About the Department
Our department has been functioning in our institution since its inception in 2010, providing tertiary level care to 3 districts. Under the guidance of senior faculties, The department has progressed many a notch to the present outpatient attendance of 100 to 130 patients per day.
We provide care for around 25000 patients per year including OP, IP and referrals.
All types of Dermatological, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) & Leprosy cases including their complications are handled by our team. Apart from day to day OP activities, the department also focuses on cosmetology and dermatosurgery clinic manned by trained and experienced faculties.

Outpatient service
Skin – The first line of defense of our body, also act as a mirror which reflects multiple internal diseases.
Dermatology, a specialized area of medicine deal with conditions that affect the skin, nails, hair and mucous membranes. We identify and treat more than 3,000 conditions affecting these structures, providing advanced and comprehensive therapies.

Inpatient services
A 10 bedded inpatient ward is providing services to sick patients who need intensive skin care for life threatening conditions like Toxic epidermal necrolysis, Steven-Johnson syndrome, Erythroderma, Immunobullous conditions like Pemphigus and pemphigoid etc. Various other diseases which require IP care including severe psoriasis, contact dermatitis, reactions and complications of leprosy, drug relations are treated by our team of experts.
Academic activities
Our UG training program include clinical sessions, seminars and symposiums during the morning hours and theory classes in the afternoon based on latest NMC norms, from second year onwards. Our students are also posted in the department during the internship period for a week, where they will be well trained in diagnosing and treating dermatological conditions and also cosmetological procedures. Apart from undergraduate training our faculties are being involved in postgraduate teaching for general medicine PGs. Our students regularly participate in state level quiz and other academic competitions in the field of leprosy. CMEs are also regularly conducted which help in gaining knowledge about the recent advances and novel concepts in this field.

Apart from routine medical services, our department also conducts various programs creating awareness among students, patients and public by activities like National leprosy day, psoriasis day, vitiligo day etc.
Leprosy activities
- POD camps
Prevention of deformities (POD) Camps are being conducted regularly to prevent deformities in leprosy like claw hand, wrist drop, foot drop, trophic ulcers and ocular deformities.
- SPARSH LEPROSY FORTNIGHT campaign
Following National leprosy day on January 30th, a 14 day awareness campaign being conducted in our department as a part of National leprosy eradication program (NLEP).
- Tertiary care for deformities and complications in leprosy.
Pharmacovigilance
In association with pharmacology department we actively involved in reporting of various adverse reactions to drugs.
