INDIAN ORGAN DONATION DAY CELEBRATION

NOTTO celebrates the Indian Organ Donation Day every year to augment awareness about organ donation, dispel myths and misconceptions associated with organ donation and motivate and encourage the citizens of the country to donate organs and tissues after death, as well as to imbibe the value of organ donation in their lives.

In Celebration of Indian Organ Donation Day, we have conducted a poster competition on 03/08/23 for both medical and paramedical students in the topics “Organ Donation – Bridging the gap between life and death” & “The Journey of an Organ – From donor to recipient”. Best three poster presenters were awarded with attractive prizes.

On 08/08/23, we have conducted an “Awareness Rally” in view of celebration of Indian Organ Donation Day.  First, Prof. Dr. G. Josephraj, M.S.,M.Ch., Dean, Govt. Thiruvarur Medical College Hospital gave presidential address regarding Organ Donation.  He spoke about the need to donate organs and tissues after death.  He added that Organ donation ensures the continued contribution of an individual towards society’s well-being even after death.  All major organs like heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, bone, intestines, eyes, and skin can be donated after brain death.

After that, doctors and medical students took organ donation pledge.  Later, Dean Sir issued prizes to the students who won the first three places in the poster competition on organ donation.

Later, Dean Sir waved the green flag for “Awareness Rally” of National Service Scheme Students Volunteers and doctors.  More than 120 students and 30 doctors participated in the rally.
